Last year, as the UK approached its original March 31st Brexit deadline, The Battleground interviewed British Green MEP Molly Scott Cato about defending democracy, fighting fascism and false narratives.
In January 2020, with the departure of the UK from the EU finally approaching, and world leaders meeting in Davos to discuss the climate crisis, The Battleground met with Scott Cato in Brussels once again – to reflect on events, during her final days in office, as well as look to the future.
A typically open, at times emotional, discussion covered the failure to stop Brexit, inevitable trade-offs in the new UK/EU relationship, how far the European Parliament can protect the rights of citizens, what pro-EU movements in the UK should do now, the future for Scotland, Ireland, and representative democracy, and the practicalities of transitioning to a global sustainable economy.
If you want to share Molly’s most memorable European Parliament moment, find out what she considers the UK ’s biggest EU achievement, and learn about her hopes for the future, listen to our audio interview.
